There are better ways to deal with the transport problem.Our daughter and her husband were quoted a rail fare from Glasgow to Felixstowe of over £500. They could have flown half way round the world for that. Lets see some real vision and innovation used in this matter.Rule britannia !

I have had a driving licence for the past 37 years; my annual mileage has averaged about 8500 miles. Living in a rural area of Wales I am an essential road user to get to my place of work, the post office, my bank, my service garage, and to buy food aqnd clothes. My nearest major town is Carmarthen which is a 36 mile return trip. My annual Road Tax and high taxation on fuel (diesel)already amounts to several hundred pounds per annum. I recall that in the 1970′s when I started driving these taxes were mainly aimed at improving roads and transport. In recent years less and less of these taxes have been used on roads especially in this area of Wales where traffic blackspots and accidents are higher than average. I would support the tax if it was means tested. The concepthas been very poorly thought thro’ and therefore I object to the introduction as proposed. I consider current road and fuel taxes to be high enough – my main standpoint for objecting is the “essential user living in a rural environment.

I THINK CAR TAX SHOULD BE SCRAPPED AS THERE IS FAR MORE IMPORTANT THING TO PAY FOR AND TO CHARGE TO DRIVE YOUR CAR IS ABSOULTLY CRAZY…THEY PUT IT UP IN PRICE EVERY YR
